Outdoor TV Installation Tips & Ideas

  1. Electrical Outlet:  You will need an outdoor weatherproof power outlet and dealers listed on this site have the trade relationships to get this done seamlessly.

  2. Wire Concealment:  Nobody wants to see wires, especially a power cord running through your beautiful landscape. There are wire-molds and raceways to hide wires but its best to run a weatherproof conduit, sometimes underground depending on the TV location. You will need this for both power and audio / video signals.

  3. Outdoor TV Connections: Having an outdoor TV means it will probably need a network connection. This is possible through WiFi but will then cause bandwidth issues slowing down the entire network. Smart Televisions should be hardwired for Netflix, Hulu and all other streaming video services. Since your outdoor TV will also be concealed on a wall an experienced dealer will advise on which connections you will need.

  4. Outdoor TV Mounting: Mounting your outdoor TV has the same considerations as an indoor TV. Will you meed a flat mount, tilt mount or a full swing arm swivel mount? Depending on location your dealer can suggest the best solution and location. Some Outdoor TV's are not meant for direct sunlight but there are great options should you not have a choice in location.

  5. Outdoor TV Control: Your outdoor TV will need control and your dealer can make suggestions on the best way to do this. You will receive a factory remote but having a keypad, universal remote or auxiliary touchscreen used for other home automation tasks would be optimal.
