Fireplace Mantel Mount TV Installation From National Smart Home

If you choose to mount your TV over your fireplace there are a few options and some need to be considered, like a tilt mount. Mantels are usually pretty high and you will want your expensive investment as far away from heat and smoke as possible. We are not saying you have a leaky fire place but any residual smoke as well as dust form the ashes will take a toll on any electronics over time.

Fireplace Mantel  Mount TV Installation Tips & Ideas

  1. Electrical Outlet:  If there is not a power outlet already installed above the mantel its going to take some serious work and maybe even a stone mason. Our dealers listed on this site have the experience to asses the install and also have the trade relations needed to get your TV mounted correctly.

  2. Wire Concealment:  Nobody wants to see wires, especially a power cord running down a beautiful fireplace to the closest a power outlet. There are wire-molds and raceways to hide wires that extrude off the stone work but dealers on this site will make sure your wires are not obvious and also out of the way of heat.

  3. Smart TV Connections: Having a smart TV means they will need a network connection. This is possible through WiFi but will then cause bandwidth issues slowing down the entire network. Smart Televisions should be hardwired for Netflix, Hulu and all other streaming video services.

  4. Fireplace Mantel Mount TV Height:  You will most likely need a tilt mount in the very least for a fireplace installation. There are also mounts that can lower the TV when ready to view as shown in the picture above. Some of these mounts are also motorized and can be connected to a universal remote control or home automation system. You dealer can suggest the best options for you.

  5. Mantel Mount TV Connection Access:  When you mount a TV over the fireplace you will have very limited access to HDMI ports and other connections. This will make it very difficult to hook up game consoles and other components that were not permanently connected.
