If you’re thinking about adding an integrated smart home system to your property, you might be wondering about the day-to-day control of your technology will look like. Some common questions you might be wondering: How will I use my system on a daily basis? Will it be complicated for me to maneuver the control interface and therefore make me less likely to use it? Will I be able to customize my system after the initial installation?

Home automation system features are designed to add convenience to your lifestyle; whether it’s through the luxury of having the controls for all of your home’s technologies stored in one universal interface or through the efficiency benefits once you begin using your system. But your integrated home system is only as effective as you make it. At Bravo AV, we prefer Savant home automation systems due to its ease of use for homeowners just like you. In this blog, we explore our favorite features of the Savant Pro user interface that make daily control of your smart home effortless. Just keep reading below to find out more.

Maneuvering the Savant Pro Interface When you own a Savant home automation system, you can access your entire setup through the Savant Pro application on your personal smartphone or tablet. Through this single application, you can control every aspect of your smart home – including lights, motorized shades, security systems, climate controls, TVs, Blu-ray players, multi-room audio and more. While that might seem overwhelming at first, the Savant user interface makes it simple. The system is split into two main functions so you can achieve daily technology control – either by room or by device. For example, by pressing the three horizontal lines on the top of your home screen, large photos with overlaid text will appear, distinguishing specific rooms from each other. If you want to dim the lights in your dining room, you can easily do so without needing to get up from your seat. Easily identifiable photos can distinguish every room connected through your Savant smart home so that you never have to struggle to find the controls for a particular room’s devices.

Additionally, you also can control your system through your home screen. On the bottom of the user interface are large icons for each of the technologies in your overall home automation system. If you press on the “shades” button, for example, all of your home’s motorized shades will appear on the screen – allowing you to simply raise or lower whichever shade you desire. Just check out this short video below that shows how easy it is to maneuver the Savant Pro interface:

Create Customizable Scenes as You Go One of our favorite features of a Savant home automation system is that it gives homeowners the chance to effortlessly program their own scenes.

What do we mean by “scenes”? A common feature of integrated home systems is that through one command, several ensuing actions can occur. One example is a “Good Morning” scene – when you wake up to your alarm at 7 a.m., your master bedroom lights slowly turn on, your motorized shades rise and your in-room speakers begin playing your favorite music playlist to inspire you to begin your day on the right note. With some home automation systems, programming these scenes requires the help of a professional. And while our team certainly can program any of your desired scenes for the smart home system at your New Jersey home, the Savant Pro user interface is so simple that you can create scenes as you go. From the home screen of the application, you can simply select the “Scenes” button that will allow you to access any existing scenes or to create your own.

The options are endless. For any specific scene you want to create, you can choose one or multiple rooms at a time and then customize everything from the lighting and the shading levels, to the temperature in those specific rooms and the entertainment systems, such as the TVs or the multi-room speakers. This is perfect for an “Entertaining” scene, for example: Create a scene in the Savant Pro interface that includes your main gathering areas and includes brightening the lights and turning on each room’s speakers to your favorite music playlist. As you can see, minimal effort is required for when you are ready to host guests. Simply log into the application, enter the scenes page and press the “Entertaining” button to activate the setting. As you go about your daily technology usage, you might find as well that you want to program a brand-new scene based on how your living space appears in that exact moment. With the Savant Pro interface, you have the option of creating scenes based on current settings so that you don’t have to guess to program that scene. We also love the fact that you can schedule scenes to automatically occur based on time of day or the position of the sun, program how long you want the scenes to last for and also the ability to tell your system how long you want it to take for your scene to load after you activate it (such as if you want your lights to brighten over the course of 3, 5 or 10 seconds as a scene loads). This short video contains a brief introduction to creating scenes through the Savant Pro interface:
